Three Time Ironman
Champion Heather Gollnick Uses Prolotherapy To Get
Her
Back To The Sport She Loves
When one talks about the best in America at the
Ironman Triathlon Distance, one name continues to
pop up...Heather Gollnick.
The three time Ironman champion and top American female finisher
at the 2004 Hawaii Ironman World Championships is a
fierce competitor. In March of 2004 with her season
fast approaching, she was having some health
concerns including elbow/arm/wrist
pain that was
preventing her from working out in the pool. Her
swimming was severely hampered. She had tried the
normal route of therapy without results.
Because
one of her clients,
Ross Hauser, M.D., was a sports
medicine specialist, she agreed to get Prolotherapy
in March 2004.
As most of you know I successfully completed my
first Ironman race (Coeur D’Alene) in June 2004. My
coach for this was none other than Heather Gollnick.
I was able to meet with Heather a few times during
that time at her home in Wisconsin. Besides being a great athlete she is a terrific
mother, wife, and friend. One weekend my training
partner Peter Blakemore and I stayed at her home and
trained with her the whole weekend. I saw the love
that she has for her three children and them for
her. Her husband Todd is also awesome. Heather has
somehow found a way to be able to train, become a
champion, but also have the type of family life that
we all desire.
She apparently injured her elbow/arm/wrist during
training. She received Prolotherapy on March 19,
2004 to
her elbow (lateral collateral ligament and annular
ligament), as well as the posterior wrist. Within a
week she felt great and her elbow/arm/wrist has felt
fine since. She continued to train hard. Her
season ended in fantastic fashion with her first American overall in the Ironman World Championships
in Hawaii. She has since moved to Florida
where she will continue to train and compete. At
least now because of Prolotherapy she will do it
pain free.

There is no known cure for arthritis.
Prolotherapy and nutritional
supplements can help alleviate, reverse, or end arthritic pain by
treating an underlying cause that contributes to degenerative disease,
ligament laxity. Strengthening ligaments and other connective tissue can
help prevent bone on bone arthritis from developing.
